How to set up Cart Abandonment

Cart Abandonment allows you to send automatic reminder or follow-up emails to guests who have started a reservation on the booking engine, but have not completed the reservation.

  • To set up Cart Abandonment

    • Check the box that says, “Ask guests for their email when they first visit”.

      • Select the sidebar style. This is the sidebar that displays on the booking engine and asks guests for their email address.

      • Customize text as necessary.

      • Select any promo codes that apply. The drop-down menu will list promo codes that have been created in Specials & Packages. (For more information on creating promo codes, visit How to set up Specials & Packages.)

    • Check the box to send the first email.

      • Select how soon after the guest leaves the booking engine the email should be sent.

      • Type the email subject.

      • Select the email template. There is a default Cart Abandonment template created. You can edit or preview this template or you can create additional templates in Marketing. (For more information on creating marketing templates, visit How to design a promotional email.)

      • Select any promo codes that apply. If you select a promo code, the discount will be automatically applied to the reservation if the guest uses the booking link contained within the email.

    • Check the box to send the second email.

      • Select how soon the second email should be sent.

      • Select the time of day the email should be sent.

      • Type the email subject.

      • Select the email template.

      • Select any promo codes that apply.

    • Save.


Note: When guests enter their email address in the cart abandonment sidebar, they are automatically subscribed to your marketing or newsletter email list. If a guest’s email address is auto-captured on the final page of the booking engine (if they attempt to complete a reservation, but are prevented from doing so due to errors such as invalid credit card information), they will not be added to your marketing list, but will receive the cart abandonment follow-up emails.
