Settings > Credit Card Processing

Credit Card Processing through your ResNexus system keeps all of your information in one place and allows for accurate reporting and tracking of guest financial information. Before configuring settings in Credit Card Processing you will need to sign up with Complete Merchant Solutions (CMS) or Authorize.net.

  • Setting up Authorize.net connection in ResNexus

    • Enter Login ID and Transaction Key

    • Click Save

    • Click Test to verify your account is working.

      • If your account is working properly, a green box will appear at the bottom of the page stating that your account is working properly.

      • If your account is not working properly, a red box will appear.

  • Setting up CMS connection in ResNexus

    • CMS will contact us to make the connection. We will be able to put in the Key.

    • You can test the connection by clicking Test next to the Key and Pin above the CMS logo.

      • If your account is working properly, a green box will appear at the bottom of the page stating that your account is working properly.

      • If your account is not working properly, a red box will appear.

  • Setting up Credit Card Processing through ResNexus

    • Check the boxes under “Options”

      • The first three boxes are needed to process the cards

        • “Enable credit card processing of phone reservations” makes it possible to process cards on reservations made through the back office.

        • “Enable credit card processing of online and GDS reservations” makes it possible to process cards on reservations made through the booking engine or connected third-party Channel Managers and Online Travel Agencies.

        • “Submit as much guest information as possible to the gateway” makes it more likely that a card will be processed successfully.

      • We recommend checking the fourth box requiring the CVV code for online reservations

        • This makes the charge more secure for the guest.

      • Checking the fifth box requires the CVV code for reservations made over the phone or any transaction in the back office.

        • For security purposes, ResNexus does not store CVV codes in the system, so every transaction/charge will require asking the guest for the security code.

      • If you are going to use a card swiper, check the box next to “Enable swiping of cards via a card swiper”

      • If you are using an encrypted swiper from CMS, check the box next to “Swiper is encrypted (CMS only)”

    • Typing a message in the box “Message to guests as they book online:” will make this message visible to guests booking through the booking engine when entering credit card information.

      • This is a good place to let your guests know if you collect a deposit.

    • Select whether or not you automatically collect deposits.

      • If you collect a deposit, check the box next to “Automatically collect a deposit of:”

      • Select the bubble for a percentage of the total, a dollar amount, or the first night’s stay.

      • Select whether or not you want to include tax.

        • This is for collection of first night and retail items only.

      • Select whether or not you want to automatically collect all retail items upfront except when collecting a percentage.

    • Click “Save”

  • Testing your Credit Card Processing

    • Create a test reservation and go to “Payment” within the reservation

    • Click “Add Card”

    • Enter card information

      • This card needs to be one you can use for a $1.00 charge. We will refund this after testing.

    • Once card has been added click “Add Payment”

    • The full amount due on the reservation appears in the box below “Amount:”.

      • This field can be changed to $1.00.

    • Select the bubble next to the card you wish to charge.

    • Click “Add Payment”

    • On the payment screen, the date the charge occurred is shown with the card information, the amount charged, and who added the payment.

    • Under the date there will be a success number.

      • This success number comes from CMS or Authorize.net and indicates that the transaction has been processed.

      • The absence of a Success code means that the payment has been recorded in ResNexus, but no money has actually been transferred.

    • Once the test is successful, you can refund the amount.

      • Check the box next to the payment you want to refund.

      • Click “Refund”

      • Select “Full Amount”

      • Click “Refund”
